Live Literature Masterclass at Totleigh Barton

An exhilarating masterclass crash course in spoken word, performance poetry and rap, led by two of the UK’s top exponents of live literature. This course will steer you through the creation of the poetic script for stage, the audience-performer dynamic, creating the stage personae, performance skills, microphone technique, working with music, beatbox and establishing yourself as a professional spoken word artist.

This course is being tutored by Charlie Dark & Joelle Taylor, with John Hegley as mid-week guest:

Charlie Dark is a writer, producer and DJ who has built an international reputation for pushing spoken word boundaries. Poet coach for the London Teenage Poetry Slam, he also orchestrates the spoken word night Alphabet Soup.

Joelle Taylor is a professional spoken word artist, workshop facilitator and published playwright, who currently directs and performs with polyvocal poetry collective the SLAMbassadors and coordinates the Rise Londonwide Youth Slam Championships for the Poetry Society.
