LONDON: Hammer and Tongue

Monday, June 7th, 2010, 7.30pm
We are BACK on at the Green Note Cafe on Camden Parkway with two performance poetry legends for your delectation, plus the OPEN SLAM.

It's the first of our new season and a clean slate, so everyone, whether you've won a Hammer and Tongue slam in the past or not, is eligible to try out for the 2010-2011 championship. Usual rules apply.

Our featured poets on the night are:

STEVE LARKIN: One of the current favourites for the coveted Oxford Professor of Poetry position (vote Steve)! Steve Larkin is the co-founder of Hammer and Tongue and his commitment to furthering the cause and impact of performance poetry in the UK is astounding.
Whether powering a stage through the medium of bike and stage presence alone, running workshops everywhere from schools to prisons to festival tents or debating the philosophy of everything from football to climate change to relationships, Steve is an unmissable, energetic,
internationally respected ambassador for all things performance poetry. Miss him at your peril.

YAP: Known as the lead singer of One Minute Silence as well as a renowned performance poet and street philosopher, Yap will show you why he's seen as one of the most thought-provoking performers on the spoken word circuit today. Yap was a member of the UK team in the
first ever International Hammer and Tongue slam vs. the United States and he kept 400 audience members excited and bouncing for his seven or so minutes on stage. We look forward to hearing a lot more of this performer, rapper and public speaker's revolutionary work.
